Happy New Year!
Now that that’s out of the way, a bit of explanation. The familiar German Post Office letterbox is gone. Well, OK, it’s still standing there around the corner, but it’s gone from this blog. I finally dumped her.
I simply found the WordPress Cutline theme too harsh-looking. Too white. Too sterile.
Redoable Lite one has a warmer feel, the slightly larger text on a dark grey background much easier on the eye, not only for reading, but also viewing photos.
I have to admit I hate those stupid red bars clashing on either side of the top photo, the font on the sidebar is too tiny and the blogroll is now kind of scrunched up. And that looming empty space top right – what’s up with that?
But everything’s a compromise with the themes WordPress.com offers, so until I go for customisation, it’ll have to do.
The photo on top: taken in June 2007 in Britannia Beach, located about half-way between Vancouver and Whistler Mountain, BC Canada. A less elevated view filled up our front window when I was growing up.
Some look at the view and say I was crazy to leave. I say, not so.

The banner photograph shows the town of Britannia Beach, BC, Canada, where I grew up. It's home. But I don't live there anymore.

I’m usually not fond of white type on black, but I do think this theme is a nice improvement on your other one – looks a bit more ‘cosy’ somehow. It also offsets photos very well. You might also want to check out the ‘black letterhead’ theme, which I’m using for my travelblog.

It IS a warmer look…so warm in fact, that I almost don’t need the crap-tacular home-made latte that I’m currently sipping with disdain….almost …by the way that view is spectacular, and as a lifetime Ontarian, I really need to get my arse out West!!
I’ve had this theme ever since I started my blog. It’s a great theme. The best, in my opinion.
