I can't believe you still have that car! I remember when it was because the only stretch I ever worked for the CN longer than a summer was that one year. The following summer, I headed off to Europe. Was the fourth person in the car Mark Bouchard? I think it was, can't be sure. Lost touch with the guy. It's so great to hear from you again. Gordon mentioned he was working a new sub, and that he'd spoken to someone who asked him if he'd ever worked at Giscome. I asked him if it was Dale before he even got a chance to tell me who it was. :-) Your Costa Rican paradise sounds fantastic - and now that I've discovered the photos behind your name, it looks so, too! One particular time "I" remember was giving you a ride to the coast (or??) from P.G. at Christmas time. We were heading for Vancouver. "If" I recall correctly there were at least 4 people (us, you & ??? I want to say "Mitch F." but not I'm really sure), one dog (ours), skis (yours) & tons of luggage. I believe this hellishly scary & somewhat hairy trip took us 14 hours in our '78 Green Acadian (we still have her!!!). So.....do you remember? We found your 'blog through your brother. We are just North of Kamloops now. Dale is still with CN....30+ years! Retires in 5 then were off to our second home in Costa Rica. We have a cool "little" chocolate farm there with more types of fruits that we can even name. We even have Cashew Nut trees...how cool is that!!?? Toucans, sloths, monkeys everywhere! We're on the Atlantic side, 5 minutes from caribbean. Our little slice of "Paradise". We've never been to Germany....sounds great.
