Canada in Dire Straits: Ban this!

Canada bans radio play of Money for Nothing after receiving complaint.

I want some…

I want some Sa-ni-ty….

Now look at them losers, that’s the way you do it
They ban a song and say it’s good for me
Now that’s just stupid.  That’s a load of bullshit
Banning some music – next they’ll come for me

Now that’s just senseless. Still they’re gonna do it.
Lemme tell ya: they’re just plain dumb
Maybe save a sister from some hurting feelings
Maybe save a sister from some bum

A lotta pissed off radio DJ’s
Can’t play that music any more
Gotta groove on shit like Patio Lanterns
That kinda music make you wanna just heave

That little redneck with the earring and the make-up
Yeah buddy, that’s what he wears
That little redneck’s got his own pickup truck
That little redneck he’s been puttin’ on airs

Canada should learn to drop the PC
They shoulda learned that songs don’t kill
Look at that loser, he’s gotta whine to some bureaucrat, man
And we all pay the bill

And he’s up there.  What’s that? More whining noises?
They say it’s to protect sensibilities
Now that’s just stupid.  That’s a load of bullshit
Banning some music – next they’ll come for me

Your use of the word “dumb” is likely to offend dumb people. Brace yourself for the angry backlash.

I am offended by your reference to “PC”. As you may know, I once participated in a Progressive Conservative leadership convention. I have reported you to the CBSC. Now you’ll be sorry.

Heeeeeeeee! Martin Niemöller meets Dire Straits?! No wonder I love your blog, Ian.

I wish I had the talent you have for writing appropriate lyrics…

Thank you all! Still waiting for the great backlash.

And for those who’ve never cringed through Patio Lanterns, it’s a Canadian song and only heard on Canadian radio, because the government figures it’s good for us. It’a been known to show up on the Richter scale when thousands of listeners in one area lunge to change the station at once. Please don’t watch this on a full stomach:

Yikes. I only got through about one-third of Patio Laterns before Sarah started screaming from the other end of the couch “Turn it off! Turn it OFF!! TURN IT OFF!!!”

I was quite curious about the rest of it, but it just sucked too much.

STOP STOP STOP STOP. Why would you try to get us to listen to Patio Lanterns? Isn’t it bad enough that I have to hear it on Galaxie?

The only thing that sucks more than Patio Lanterns is every single Nickleback song, which unfortunately nobody is trying to ban.

I got 28 seconds into Patio Lanterns before giving up.

The editor and publisher of this blog would like to express their sincere apologies if exposure to Patio Lanterns caused undue stress or, indeed, harm. We can’t say we didn’t warn you, though!🙂
